Since its birth 21 September 1952, Anneliese Michel was first brought to a normal life, characterized only by great piety. Overnight, his life turned upside down.
One day in 1968 she began to tremble and not knowing control his body. During his fits, she lost her voice, could not call his parents for ask them for help. A neurologist diagnosed that she suffered from epilepsy and she was admitted to hospital for treatment.
After his first attacks, she thought she saw demonic faces now grinning at his daily prayer, she also had the impression of hearing voices. Anneliese spoke to doctors who did not know how to help.
In early 1973, parents of Anneliese asked several priests to exorcise their daughter, but they thought it was enough for him to continue taking his medication. In addition, to perform an exorcism, it was necessary that the possessed person was answering very specific characteristics: speaking a language she never learned to have supernatural powers and feel embarrassed by religious objects. In
1974, a priest examined it and agreed that pratiquât an exorcism, but his superiors forbade him. His condition worsened and then attacks became increasingly violent. She insulted the other members of his family, beat and bit her.
She refused to eat, claiming that demons would not allow him to do. She slept on the floor. You could hear all day screaming, breaking crucifixes and destroying paintings of Jesus.
In 1975, after checking the state of possession, the clergy authorized an exorcism ritual based on the Roman. It was found that Anneliese was possessed by demons that needed to release Lucifer and Fleischmann (disgraced Frankish Priest from the sixteenth century), and other damned souls which manifested themselves through her.
From 1975, we practiced one or two exorcism on her every week. Sometimes the attacks were so strong that it took three men to control it if we did not chained. Despite this, she was able to resume a semblance of normal life (going back to school, pass a contest ...).
However, the attacks did not cease. More and more often she was paralyzed and unconscious. She refused to eat completely. His many genuflections (Over 600 now), caused a rupture in the knees. Forty tapes were recorded during exorcisms to preserve details.
The exorcism took place last June 30, 1976. At this time, Anneliese was suffering from pneumonia. Her face was emaciated and suffering from high fever. She was physically exhausted. But she remained conscious of his situation. His mother registered his death.
A prosecutor then made an investigation after which the two priests, exorcists and Anneliese's parents were charged with negligence causing death (as the doctors said she was epileptic and psychotic).
Priests exorcists did listen to recordings of various exorcisms they had performed, during which one could distinguish the voices of two demons in the process of arguing, wondering which of the two would leave the first body of Anneliese.
Parents and two priests were sentenced to six months in prison.
