Bahiyah Betty Shabazz (born Betty Jean Sanders) (May 28, 1936 - died June 23, 1997), also known as Betty X, she was the wife of the late Malcolm X.

The assassin paid by Qubilah Shabazz proved to be a government informant, an FBI agent had used this informant, Michael Fitzpatrick, to frame Qubilah Shabazz. After the arrest of Qubilah Shabazz, Farrakhan held a press conference in Chicago in which he accuses the FBI of trying to exacerbate division and conflict between the "Nation of Islam" and the family of Malcolm X. Four months later, prosecutors in the United States government dropped their case against Shabazz quiblah.

On 1 June 1997 Malcolm Shabazz set fire to the apartment of his grandmother. (Malcolm Shabazz was unhappy he had been sent to live with his grandmother in Yonkers when he wanted to join his mother Qubilah in Texas.) Bahiyah Betty Shabazz suffered burns third level in more than 80 percent of his body and remained in intensive care for three weeks at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx in New York. She underwent five operations to replace damaged skin and to save his vie.Bahiyah Betty Shabazz died from his burns June 23, 1997 at the age of 61.
Malcolm Shabazz was arrested and was sentenced to eighteen months of juvenile detention for manslaughter.
At the time of his death Bahiyah Betty Shabazz directs the Office of Institutional Advancement and Public Affairs at the University of Medgar Evers in Brooklyn (part University of New York City).
Shabazz The funeral service was held at Islamic Cultural Center in New York. His funeral was spent in Harlem (the same place where the funeral of Malcolm X have been held 32 years ago). Betty Shabazz was buried next to her husband Malcolm X Cemetery Ferncliff in Hartsdale New York.
There is a large mosque in Harlem named after Shabazz.
